Headway Worcestershire - the ABI Games™ 2023

In honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, Headway Worcestershire proudly delivered the second Acquired Brain Injury Games.

People with acquired brain injuries from anywhere in the UK participated in this event.
There were 4 categories - Physical Activities, Creative Expression, Cognitive Skills and Life Skills.
Both Creative Expression and Life Skills could also be entered remotely if they couldn't be attended in person.

This event was held on 3rd August 2023 at the University of Worcester Sports Arena.

ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

CATEGORIES

Creative Expression

Participants created their own piece of art in the run up to the event. These were then be judged at the event itself. The categories were: Photography, Painting/Drawing, Pottery, Woodwork, Creative Writing and Craft.

Physical Activities

Teams from around the country will participated in physical games. The categories were: Boccia, Indoor Bowls, Walking Tennis, Walking Football, Walking Rugby and Walking Cricket. Do you have a team to enter into this category next year?

Life Skills

Participants were invited to create their entries prior to the event. These were then judged at the event itself. The categories they chose from were: Grow tallest Sunflower, Grow Wonky Fruit/Veg, Bake a Cake, Bake Scones, Bake a Loaf of Bread and Make a Preserve.

Cognitive Skills

Participants took part in this category throughout the day. The categories were: Sjoelbak, Uno, Memory Game, Dominoes, and Chess.

The Day

Volunteer

We need volunteers on the day to help with marshalling, refereeing, physiotherapy and general assistance with the event itself. If you are available and feel like supporting us then please fill in the form below and we will make sure we contact you.
