HEADWAY WORCESTERSHIRE PRESENTS
- ABI GAMES™ 2025 -
FOR PEOPLE WITH AN ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY

Returning for a third year, Headway Worcestershire was proud to host the national ABI Games™ on 20th August at the University of Worcester Sports Arena. These games offered a day of activities for all adults with an acquired brain injury to participate.

With 4 categories to choose from - Physical Activities, Creative Expression, Cognitive Skills and Life Skills, there was something for everyone. Participants made new friends, tried new skills and enjoyed taking part.
And those that couldn't physically make the day could enter both Creative Expression and Life Skills remotely.

Our next games will be in the summer of 2027!

Channel 5 came along for the day and recorded a segment which aired at 5.30pm that afternoon.
You can see the recording below.

A Day To Remember

What an incredible gathering it was at the 2025 ABI Games™, hosted by Headway Worcestershire at the University of Worcester Arena. It was a day filled with energy, connection, competitive spirit, and celebration of accomplishments.

Highlights from the Day

United from across the UK— Headway groups came together from far and wide, bringing together participants, carers, volunteers, and supporters for one large, inclusive event.

Activities for every talent — Competitions ranged from physical sports (walking football, boccia, cricket etc.) to cognitive games (chess, Scrabble, Uno), to creative expression (art, photography, etc.).

Joy & Enrichment — The feedback was unanimous: people had fun, felt supported, and many of them found pride, connection, and achievement in taking part.

Volunteers & Support — The day couldn’t have happened without the hard work of volunteers, staff, and the many organisations who showed up to make the event run smoothly. Their contribution was praised widely.

Why it Mattered

Visibility & Awareness — The Games helped raise awareness about what people with acquired brain injuries can achieve, not just what they face. It was a powerful platform to show talents, determination, and resilience.

Community & Connection — For many, this event offered something beyond competition: friendships renewed, new connections made, and the sense of being part of a vibrant, understanding community.

Celebration of individual stories — Regardless of outcome, every participant’s effort counted. Moments of personal bests, creative breakthroughs, supportive cheering crowds—these are what made the day unforgettable.

With Heartfelt Thanks to:

Participants – for bringing your best, your passion, and your stories.

Volunteers & Staff – for all the behind-the-scenes work that made the event run so well.

Partners & Supporters – organisations, funders, family & friends, everyone who donated time, resources, encouragement.

Looking Ahead

The success of the ABI Games™ 2025 has already laid groundwork for even more inclusive, dynamic, and far-reaching future editions. Plans are underway for 2027 to build on what was achieved — more activities, more accessibility, more participants, and even greater celebration.

Want to be part of it? Whether as a participant, volunteer, sponsor, or simply cheering from the sidelines — keep an eye out for announcements and get involved!
